Fistula in ano is abnormal connection between the Anus and Perianal skin. Symptoms of fistula are painful swelling around Anus, pus discharge.

Also at the time procedure some surgeons are using methylene blue. This liquid solution is injected through external opening. Due to this methylene blue, inner lining of fistula is coloured blue. This is easy differentiation between normal and fistulous track. 
Blood investigation is needed with physical fitness for surgery.
Enema of glycerine is indicated 1 hour prior to surgery for clear bowel.
Bill by mouth for at least 6 hours prior to surgery. That is need of anaesthesia to avoid vomiting.
